The dogs with such status is usually made by the owners, who are "overreacting" in dog training and on the fact that the dog "must know her place". The owner is not playing much with the young puppy, because he doesn't want to "spoil" him. Any dog's mistake is punished too hard. The owner rarely talks to the dog, all their communication is reduced to the commands and the huge system of prohibitions.
In the house the dog is literally walking on one floorboards: she is not allowed basically anything, so that it remains astonishing that a strict owner is not forcing the dog even to breathe on his command. The lack of communication and loads of misunderstandings are usually enough to force the dog to look for some outlet. Usually she would become very found of guarding, which the strict owner will warmly endorse.
As a result, the dog is barking at every rustle at the door, growls and pounces on the locked door when there are some guests in the house. The most piquant is that, in case of a real trouble, when the owner will need a real help from his dog, he most likely will not receive it. "Border guard" does not enter the battle, when a dominant owner is beside him - his business here is only to raise the alarm. Very often, these dogs are perfect for work or training in the club or another familiar place, in an unfamiliar environment they are basically lost.
Loyal ally. Perhaps it is the best role for the dog in the family, we emphasize only that it means "the junior partner". In this situation, the dog is in a perfect contact with the owner, in their relations the aggression of "the younger partner" is not possible, despite the fact that, if necessary, a senior partner for persuasion may use a demonstration of his power.
